Catherine Tate teaches advanced film compositing classes for graduate and undergraduate students using Nuke software, and also runs collaborative classes, which focus on giving students real-world production experience.

Catherine's objective in these collaboratives is to help independent filmmakers get their visual effects work completed and to give students access to well-shot footage, real deadlines, and exposure to professionals such as directors, producers, and visual effects supervisors. This helps students improve the quality of their work, how they approach a shot, and their communication skills.

Additionally, Catherine tries to bring in the best visual effects artists in the industry as instructors to help strengthen the Academy of Art University curriculum.
